Alfa Laval offers a range of Cleaning-In-Place (CIP) systems and cleaning agents, specially designed and formulated to remove deposit build-up effectively from heat transfer, separation and fresh water generator equipment.

Cleaning-in-Place systems for heat exchangers

Choose from a broad range of Alfa Laval CIP modules and systems for heat exchangers manufactured in stainless steel or polyethylene for the very smallest modules.

Alternatively, we can design CIP systems for your very large heat exchangers or hazardous areas that require explosion-proof equipment.

Cleaning chemicals

To ensure the safe removal of unwanted contaminants from the equipment surfaces, Alfa Laval recommends specially developed non-toxic cleaning agents with low environmental impact. These have been thoroughly tested in our own laboratory to safeguard that gasket and heating surface materials are not affected. 

Other CIP cleaning chemicals

In addition to CIP chemical cleaning agents, Alfa Laval also has a range of other chemicals to enhance separator efficiency and chemicals for potable water handling. These are specifically developed for use with our high-speed separators and water desalination plants.

How We Chemical Clean Your Heat Exchangers

Our expert steps are:

• If possible, a sample fouling/scaling is collected and analyzed to formulate the right chemical or solvent to use

• A CIP system is used to circulate the chemical cleaning solution through the heat exchanger.

• If a heat exchanger does not have a CIP connection, our technicians are able to isolate the unit and install flanges with a port to circulate the cleaning chemicals.

• The CIP cleaning solution used is custom mixed according to the fouling type. It is non polluting, environmentally friendly and not hazardous to the health of plant personnel. 

• The flow rate is adjusted to accomplish a scrubbing effect while the chemical/solvent is circulated.

• After cleaning, the heat exchanger is rinsed with clean water and the chemicals are neutralized and disposed of with care to avoid any environmental impact.

   

CIP services are performed on-site by experienced heat exchanger technicians anywhere in Canada.

Chemical solutions are customized to your process (Emulsifiers & Demulsifiers, Scale Removers, Oxide & Sulphide Solubilizer) and specially reacted surfactant blends to optimize performance efficiency after the Alfa Laval CIP service.
