The double-wall scraped-surface heat exchanger principle
In a Contherm® Max double-wall scraped surface heat exchanger, the product enters through a bottom tangential entry port and exits at the top of the unit. Steam or liquid heating or cooling media flow from top to bottom in a counter-current path at high velocity, providing optimal heat transfer to the product.
A highly engineered rotating scraping assembly fitted with blades continuously removes fouling material from inner and outer walls. The speed of the rotating scraping assembly can be adjusted according to the specific product and application to ensure the most effective scraping and best product quality
At the end of production, the product can be drained or removed by water to ensure minimal product loss. In addition, the Contherm® Max double-wall scraped surface heat exchanger can be cleaned using a simple Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) procedure according to Alfa Laval’s recommended guidelines.
