Our Response to COVID-19

In accordance with the federal policy response for New Coronavirus, Alfa Laval has taken internal measures as described below. It may take us a bit longer than usual to respond to inquiries. Our delivery time has been impacted and we are working hard to restore it to our normal standard.

This is a time for vigilance, care and an intense focus on personal health at Alfa Laval. The Coronavirus outbreak is first and foremost a human tragedy, affecting hundreds of thousands of people. It is also having a growing impact on the global economy. Read Canada's Federal Government's Guideline regarding Covid-19.

Our #1 priority is the safety, health and well-being of our employees, suppliers and customers. We hope that you are feeling safe and secure. We care about our customers and our people, and we're doing what we can to ensure every day is a successful one while acknowledging that there are many challenges for everyone. We continue to try to make good decisions to support our team and customers at this difficult time for so many in the world.

Here's what we're doing, and we hope that it helps that you know:

Keeping our team safe

We have encouraged our employees to stay away from the office if they show signs of illness such as coughs, colds or fever. Colds and the flu are common, but by staying away, seeking medical attention and practicing good hygiene, we can minimize any spread of illness.

Thankfully, we have no employees with symptoms, and all Canadian offices are currently open. Throughout the crisis, our team members are hard at work to make sure you can get what you need from our brands as easily as possible, whether in-store, on the phone, or online.

Our passionate employees are absolutely focused on maintaining standards of sales and service and delivering their expertise for customers, with an emphasis on how you can continue to benefit.

Supporting customers

Some of the things we’re doing to support you include:

  • We are increasing our online availability with online meeting and live-chat options.
  • We are looking into remote field support using wifi-connectivity in customer plants
  • We are minimizing our teams' travel to events, training and customer locations.
  • Ensuring heat exchangers and separators are available, with minimal supply chain disruption;
  • Invested in a new online selection tools that gives you a richer experience and access to information and equipment buying options, especially as you may be nervous about meetings;

Doing business in every country in the world and having manufacturing facilities in China, Europe, the UK and the US, as well as people located in the field, adds some complexity for us. Supply chain disruptions have significant for us, we have had delivery delays on some systems, and some stock outages have occurred.

Hopefully, Covid-19 will miss us all directly, yet we know that the economy is feeling it. We will manage our business for its survival and will do anything sensible to insulate you and us from the costs and impact of Covid-19.

Our Canadian team has done a terrific job to try and avoid lost sales from out-of-stocks, taken on extra work managing production delays, and supported retailers who need it. Thank you to our team for their resilience, and extra effort at this time. We are really proud of how they have kept pushing ahead.

So we’re hard at work to keep open and working, so that you can continue to get what you need from employees and Alfa Laval.

What can you do now?

We know this is a really unsettling time, but we're doing what we can to keep our customers and our employees safe. We won’t blink, yet we understand the need for empathy and compassion, as some of us process these risks differently. We need to be kind and have patience.

Although things are fluid, one thing will continue: We will make our decisions with the health, safety and well being of our customers, employees and their families, being our highest priority.
